Symbol
The symbol of the Sikh religion is Khanda. In the center of
the symbol is a double-edged sword that represents the power of God that
controls the whole fate of the universe. It is the sovereignty over life and
death. One of the swords symbolizes divine justice, which tortures and punishes
the criminals. On the other side symbolizes freedom and authority governed by
moral and spiritual values. Outside the double-edged sword, we can see two
swords:
- On the left is the Sword of Spiritual Sovereignty
- On the right is the Sword of Political Sovereignty
There must be a balance between the two, and this balance is
emphasized in the circle. This circle is called Chakra. The chakra is a symbol
of the unity of the divine manifestation, whether everything, all desires,
without beginning and end, eternal, and absolute.
Sikh belief or better known as "Khalsa" or
"pure" comes from Hinduism, appeared in 1699 AD and is considered the
most contemporary belief in the world.
Prior to the arrival of the Sikh or Khalsa birth, it is
necessary to elaborate on the background and current conditions that led to the
birth of this new faith.
